Released in February 1973, “Yellow Boomerang” is a single by the Scottish pop group Middle of the Road.
The song was written by the Italian songwriting duo Giosy and Mario Capuano and drummer Mike Shepstone.
Though it was not released as a single in the UK, it was aimed at and achieved success in continental Europe, where the band already had a strong following.
“Yellow Boomerang” showcases the band’s signature bright, upbeat pop style—with tight vocal harmonies, catchy melody and light instrumentation—representing well the early ’70s bubblegum pop era.

The single’s B-side was a track titled “Eve”.
The track length is approximately 2:46 minutes.
“Yellow Boomerang” continues the songwriting collaboration of the Capuano brothers with Middle of the Road, following earlier hits like “Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep”.
Despite strong European performance, the song wasn’t released in the UK market as a single.
The lyrical metaphor uses a “yellow boomerang” to suggest someone who leaves but always returns—echoing themes of cyclical relationships and the pull of the familiar.
